Yesterday it was a storm and just above zero Celsius. Today it is grey and about the same degrees. But we have almost done the decorations for Christmas. It is just the balcony left. Baking starts tomorrow. Countdown for family time has begun.<\/p>\n<p>So time is upside down. Or is it we that are upside down. Things are not what they seem, and whatever seems to be does not. (I know this makes no sense, but that does not seem to be the case of the wether ether. ) It is soon December and winter should be here. But no snow, or cold as far as I can see.\u00a0 As I look out the window I see the darkness falling behind the heavy grey sky. My mind wanders off to this weekend. To the lights and baking. All the happiness when family comes together. It will be the first of Advent on Sunday. Yes we have entered the time of waiting. What are you waiting for? I for one am waiting for the birth of baby Jesus, the Savior of the world. No I am not going to start a theological debate.<\/p>\n<p>I just want to remind you of why we do celebrate Christmas. It seems to get forgotten in all this crazy shopping time of the year. We want this, the kids want that and then the dog or cat needs a present. Under the tree, if we even see it behind all the gifts.<\/p>\n<p>So why did they wander all the way to Bethlehem? Why is it so important that we remember the real reason for the season? I leave that to you to think about.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"passage-display\"><span class=\"passage-display-bcv\">Luke 2:1-20<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"passage-display-version\">New International Version (NIV)<\/span><\/h4>\n<h5><span id=\"en-NIV-24975\" class=\"text Luke-2-1\">The Birth of Jesus<\/span><\/h5>\n<p class=\"chapter-1\"><span class=\"text Luke-2-1\"><span class=\"chapternum\">2\u00a0<\/span>In those days Caesar Augustus\u00a0issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-24976\" class=\"text Luke-2-2\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2\u00a0<\/sup>(This was the first census that took place while<sup class=\"footnote\" style=\"font-size: 0.625em;line-height: 22px;vertical-align: top\">[<a title=\"See footnote a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Luke+2%3A1-20&amp;version=NIV#fen-NIV-24976a\">a<\/a>]<\/sup>Quirinius was governor of Syria.)<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-24977\" class=\"text Luke-2-3\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3\u00a0<\/sup>And everyone went to their own town to register.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-24978\" class=\"text Luke-2-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup>So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem\u00a0the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-24979\" class=\"text Luke-2-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup>He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him\u00a0and was expecting a child.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-24980\" class=\"text Luke-2-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6\u00a0<\/sup>While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born,<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-24981\" class=\"text Luke-2-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup>and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-24982\" class=\"text Luke-2-8\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8\u00a0<\/sup>And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-24983\" class=\"text Luke-2-9\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9\u00a0<\/sup>An angel\u00a0of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-24984\" class=\"text Luke-2-10\"><sup class=\"versenum\">10\u00a0<\/sup>But the angel said to them, \u201cDo not be afraid.\u00a0I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.<\/span><span id=\"en-NIV-24985\" class=\"text Luke-2-11\"><sup class=\"versenum\">11\u00a0<\/sup>Today in the town of David a Savior\u00a0has been born to you; he is the Messiah,\u00a0the Lord.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-24986\" class=\"text Luke-2-12\"><sup class=\"versenum\">12\u00a0<\/sup>This will be a sign\u00a0to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-24987\" class=\"text Luke-2-13\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13\u00a0<\/sup>Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"poetry top-05\">\n<p class=\"line\"><span id=\"en-NIV-24988\" class=\"text Luke-2-14\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cGlory to God in the highest heaven,<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text Luke-2-14\">and on earth peace\u00a0to those on whom his favor rests.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"top-05\"><span id=\"en-NIV-24989\" class=\"text Luke-2-15\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15\u00a0<\/sup>When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, \u201cLet\u2019s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-24990\" class=\"text Luke-2-16\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16\u00a0<\/sup>So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-24991\" class=\"text Luke-2-17\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17\u00a0<\/sup>When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child,<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-24992\" class=\"text Luke-2-18\"><sup class=\"versenum\">18\u00a0<\/sup>and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-24993\" class=\"text Luke-2-19\"><sup class=\"versenum\">19\u00a0<\/sup>But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-24994\" class=\"text Luke-2-20\"><sup class=\"versenum\">20\u00a0<\/sup>The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God\u00a0for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I leave you with this for now.<\/p>\n<p>God bless!<\/p>\n<div class=\"footnotes\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I know I said that winter was lurking, but I think that it has at the moment come to a dead halt.
